Maya & Mo met on New Year's Eve of 2005 at a party in high school. From that day forward, they talked all the time, texting each other all day long and laughing about pretty much everything (Not much has changed.) A few months later, Mo took Maya to the park and said, "I have two questions for you tonight, the first is may I have this dance?" They twirled to Maya's favorite cheesy love song 'Only Hope'. As the song ended, he asked her to be his girlfriend.
8 years later, Mo and Maya went on a hike. When they reached a waterfall, Maya posed for photos. Suddenly, she heard their song 'Only Hope' playing from a small speaker in Mo's bag. He approached her with two questions again. The first: "May I have this dance?" The next: "Mayasari Badri Mosher, will you marry me?" Mo custom designed the ring on his own - a Yellow diamond, symbolic for Hope and her favorite color.
Maya & Mo chose the date 8.8 for two reasons: the first was for the eight years spent together before getting engaged. The second was because the figure 8 is symbolic for infinity, a nod to the eternal commitment they will make to one another on their wedding day.
Their venue is a gorgeous house in the heart of Topanga with tree-lined grounds called The 1909. The location stood out to them because Topanga Canyon Boulevard runs through the Valley where Maya & Mo grew up and had their first date (and many thereafter.)
The ceremony will be in an ampitheatre under a canopy of oak trees. The dinner reception will be in a grassy meadow under the starlit sky. The party won't stop there though; cocktail hour and dancing will both be held inside.
